Workington Reds joint manager Lee Andrews believes the recent heroics of goalkeeper Aaran Taylor gives them every chance of extending their winning run to six games against Stourbridge tomorrow.

Reds are on a five-game winning streak without conceding and the former Barrow shot-stopper has played in their last four matches.

Taylor made crucial saves towards the end of Tuesday’s game 3-0 win over Spennymoor. Reds’ revival has seen them climb to the edge of the play-offs and a victory against the Glassboys could see them break into the top five.

Andrews said: “Aaran was good on Tuesday, especially in the last five minutes and we saw him working hard.

“He tipped one shot onto the bar which, if it had happened in the Premier League, people would be going mad about it.

“We’ve said that Aaran has got us 10 points this season and what a good addition he’s been.”

The management trio have an almost-full squad to choose from with James Earl the only confirmed absentee through suspension.

Opponents Stourbridge are 12th, four points behind Reds with two games in hand.

Andrews added: “I think confidence was high from the previous four games before Spennymoor, it’s just a matter of carrying on.

“We’ve got good quality going forward and I don’t think it’s a coincid-ence that we’ve been keeping clean sheets with Gari Rowntree back.

“I think we know Stourbridge is a difficult place to go, but we’ve got results there. They will be a strong and physical team and we know it’s going to be a tough game.”

Reds’ defender Anthony Wright will be registering for Hallmark Security League outfit, Carlisle City, with the intention of getting some much-needed game time.

Wright has only played 45 minutes of competitive football since returning from a double hernia operation, and was due to play for Reds Reserves until the weather intervened.

City are currently in 12th place in the North West Counties League first division. He is expected to go straight into the squad for City’s game at Daisy Hill on Saturday.
