Super striker Scott Allison will be back at Workington Reds next season.

The 32-goal hitman's commitment to rejoin the squad at Borough Park is the biggest close season boost yet for the Evo-stick Premier League side.

He is the fourth player to commit to the club for the next campaign, following Aaran Taylor, Conor Tinnion and Jake Simpson.

And joint team manager Dave Hewson said: "It's massive. He was a huge player for us last season especially for that final push for the play-offs."

Allison's scoring exploits had attracted interest from other teams.

But Reds' management team have convinced him to stay with the hope that he can again prove prolific in front of goal as the side attempts to build on last season's success in reaching the play-off finals.

Allison's haul of 32 goals from 47 starts makes him Workington's highest goal-scorer in 60 years.

Hewson added: "He's a valuable asset.

"The key thing for us was to keep the nucleus of the squad and it's a big boost in the meantime.

"There was other interest, but he wants to stick with us and have another go next year."

Allison is a wide player by trade, but was deployed as a centre forward for much of last season.

He had a purple patch at the back end of the season and scored all four goals in his side's 4-1 win over Matlock which at the time kept Reds in the play-off hunt.

Allison struck four hat-tricks last term including one against Blyth in the play-off semi final.

Sixteen of his goals were scored in the league, three in the play-offs, three in the FA Cup, three in the League Cup and seven in the Cumberland Cup.
