Workington Reds could potentially be without four key players for tomorrow’s long journey to Sutton Coldfield Town.

Suspended duo Gari Rowntree and Conor Tinnion are definitely out of the Evo-Stik Premier Division encounter in the West Midlands (3pm ko).

Gareth Arnison, who is suffering from illness, and Anthony Wright, whose partner is due to give birth, could also miss out.

However, manager Derek Townsley is remaining positive and sees it as a chance for other players to stake a claim.

He said: “It’s potentially four we could be without. It’s not great. We are a small squad and these are the things we have to get on with.

“It gives lads opportunities. These are the times when you can give one or two of the lads who are playing well in the reserves a chance to step up.

“It gives them an opportunity and a taste of the first team.”

Workington are ninth in the table, two points off the play-off positions and have only tasted defeat three times in the league so far.

Sutton Coldfield Town sit 12th in the league, one point behind Reds but have played two games more.

The two sides drew 1-1 at Borough Park on the opening day of the season.

On Tuesday, Reds will be in action in the first round of the Doodson League Cup at home to Kendal Town (7.45pm ko).
