Paul Clark, 41, of Workington, is setting up an over-35s Workington Reds Veterans side.
The team is affiliated with Workington Reds and Clark wants to enter the team in the Cumbria Veterans Football League.
Clark, a former Workington Reds Reserves player, wants as many ex-Reds stars to come forward and join the team.
He said: “It’s a bit of fun but we take it seriously. I want a Workington Reds team in there. It’s a very good league.”
Clark, who played for Workington side Westfield in the league last season, will be the player/manager of Reds Veterans.
He already has around 40 people interested in joining the team, including five ex-Reds players.
The league has two divisions and the season runs from April to the end of August.
