Jordan Holt capped his best performance for Workington Reds with his first goal for the club.

It was an injury-time strike in the 5-1 win at Halesowen which gave Reds their second successive away win.

Joint boss Dave Hewson was particularly pleased that Holt had got his name on the score-sheet.

“We’ve been pleased with how he’s been developing and maturing in the side. He’s confident on the ball and working hard, but we have talked to him about adding to that with a few goals," said Hewson.

“He played really well on Saturday and we were made-up when he scored the final goal."

Holt’s Carlisle United pal Jack Egan had earlier grabbed a brace to help to turn the game round after Reds had gone behind on four minutes.

“We had made a sloppy start but, once we got our passing game going, I thought we took control," said Hewson.

“There were some good goals, too, the first one in particular was from very good build-up play.

“It was terrific that young Jack opened his account for us with a header.

“He could have had a hat-trick because he did really well to get into a scoring position early on but just dragged his shot across goal.

“Then, of course, we had a typical Dave Symington goal.

“He wasn’t very happy with his own contribution in the first half but we told him to get into shooting positions and we saw what happened.

“There are few people who can hit a ball as hard as Dave and that one just flew into the net.

“I don’t think the keeper moved."

Reds have the chance to build on the two successive away wins as their next two fixtures are both at home.

They host Marine tomorrow night and have a visit from Coalville on Saturday.
