Delighted Workington Reds boss Dave Hewson praised his side as they picked up their second win of the season.

Reds beat Frickley Athletic 2-0 to make it two wins from their first two outings in the league.

"It is great to get the season off with two and we are not nea what we're capable of yet," said Hewson.

"We have played two hard games, put in two hard shifts and we have got the rewards but we know we can do more

"We got out of jail a couple of times tonight. But we created two chances and scored two.

"So overall we are happy but there is still more to be done."

The two sides were deadlocked 0-0 at half time but then a Josh Calvert header on 70 minutes put them ahead.

And a late goal from Rob Wilson wrapped up the win.

"It was a great header from Josh, he got in front of his man and was unstoppable," added Hewson.

"He's been ever present this pre season and he feels really fit. In these two games he has been on top of his game and long may it continue."

Hewson also praised young defender Calum Henderson who made his second first team start in the league.

He added: "Calum has done superb, he was thrown in at the deep end on Saturday and all credit to him.

"His performance warranted his selection tonight. He's still learning and that's what we are here for.

"He has a lot to learn but I think it's going to be a big year for him."

Now Reds will look to make it three from three when Barwell head to Borough Park on Saturday.

"It will be another tough game," admitted Hewson. "We know what Barwell are about.

"Hopefully we can get in our groove and play the football that we and the fans want to see.

"At the moment we're not clicking but we're still getting the results."
