Workington Reds will be looking to get back into the winning habit when they travel to Colne in the Integro League Cup tonight (7.45pm kick-off).

With a small squad to pick from, joint-managers Dave Hewson and Lee Andrews will go with largely the same squad as they would for a league fixture.

But players who have been on the fringes will get their chance from the start tonight and in the Cumberland Cup on Thursday, as the team looks to build momentum ahead of the league game against Sutton Coldfield Town on Saturday.

“We’ve got a team picked and, with us not having a massive squad, it is largely the same. But the lads that haven’t played as much football will get their chance in the starting 11,” Andrews said.

“We always want to win games because it is a habit you want to get into.

"But we’ll give them a chance to stake a claim because they maybe think they should be playing more than they are.

“We lost last Tuesday, and then Saturday probably felt like a defeat. So to get some wins in midweek would be a good way to build for the league.”

Andrews also revealed that Tommy Whitehead, who featured for the club in pre-season at Gretna and has played for Reds’ reserves, is set to make his first-team debut tonight.
