Hednesford Town were hoping to announce some new additions to their squad ahead of today’s clash with Workington Reds.

The club announced on their website that they were hoping to strengthen ahead of the vital end-of-season run-in.

Hednesford are out to do the double over Reds, having beaten them at the start of December at Borough Park.

And Reds have never recorded a win at Keys Park, something they will hope to change this afternoon, kick-off 3pm.

Hednesford have a couple of key players back from injury for the crucial clash, with both sides needing points to keep their play-off plans intact.

Midfielder Jordan Fitzpatrick returns after taking part in two training sessions this week after missing the last five games with a hamstring injury.

And Vinny Mukendi will also be available for selection after being forced off with a facial injury last weekend which required stitches.

Workington currently sit five points and four places ahead of the Pitmen in the league table and just one point adrift of their fifth place goal.

Gari Rowntree and Conor Tinnion will return for Reds after serving their suspensions.

And midweek goalscorer Sam Joel was set for a late fitness test to see if he would make the nearly 400-mile round trip.

Reds boss Dave Hewson admitted the results were now more important than the performances.
