Workington Reds joint-manager Dave Hewson was angry after his side threw away another victory last night.

Bottom of the table Frickley Athletic earned their first point of the season with an equaliser in the third minute of time added on.

He said: “That was totally unacceptable and has happened too often this season.

“How you can go from being completely in control against 10 men to losing two points at the end – it is criminal.

“We didn’t have to say anything at the end because we have an honest group and they said it themselves."

He added: “We are repeating ourselves continually this season with simple mistakes and an inability to put away chances. It just has to stop.

"The buck stops with us and we are determined to put it right and come up with the team that can do the business on Saturday against Shildon in the Cup.”

Lee Morris had just taken over as Frickley’s new manager, so it was quite a fillip to win the first point of the season.

Reds had beaten the Yorkshire outfit 2-0 at Borough Park earlier in the season.

Frickley had played the last 38 minutes with 10 men after Bailey Gooda was sent off for a second bookable offence, and Reds scored two goals in that time to take the lead and overturn an interval deficit.

But at the death they relaxed in defence and substitute Macauley Parkinson was left unmarked to score the equaliser.
