Workington Reds are well aware of the threat posed to them tonight by their former hitman Joe McGee.

The attacker left Reds back in January to join league rivals Buxton who head to Borough Park tonight in a crunch league clash, kick-off 7.45pm.

But his former team-mate Jake Simpson is hoping that it won't be McGee's night tonight as both sides aim for the final play-off berths.

"We know exactly what Joe can bring to a team as we were lucky enough to have him here for over a year," said Simpson.

"We know what he is about and we know what to expect but we will have to be on top of our game to play against him.

"It is difficult to play against former team-mates as we all know him as one of the lads but that has to go out of the window for a match.

"Nobody will be being friendly for 90 minutes and Joe will be the same. He is coming to do a job and the same goes for us."

Buxton currently occupy the final play-off slot but a win tonight could lift Reds up to sixth, with a game in hand on some of their rivals.

Simpson added: "We have said for a while we will just take it one game at a time. We are in a position where we can still be involved with the promotion push which is always a good thing.

"There is still a lot of work to do to get to where we want to be. But the lads are buzzing at the moment and we a re on a good little run of form and hopefully we can keep that going."

Joint manager Lee Andrews is hoping that Josh Calvert might be available after he missed the trip to Barwell through injury.

Anthony Wright is also up for selection along with Kyle May, Lamin Cham and Tom Fowler.

"We have got five massive games coming up but we have to take one at a time," said Andrews.

"We know it will be tough. Buxton will be tough, they are up there fighting with us so it is massive.

"All we can do is win our games in hand and keep putting the pressure on all the other teams."
