Workington Reds striker Tom Kilifin believes his side can break their Matlock curse tomorrow when the sides meet for the third time in a week.

The teams will do battle at Borough Park in the league just days after the Derbyshire side dumped Reds out of the FA Cup in a replay.

The sides also met last Saturday at Causeway Lane in the original FA Cup third qualifying round tie.

The Tuesday defeat also meant that Reds missed out on a tasty fourth qualifying round game with regular giantkillers Altrincham.

Kilifin said: "It was heartbreaking to lose on Tuesday. We felt we were the better team in both the ties and we were unlucky to come away with a draw at Matlock.

"On Tuesday I felt we dominated for large amounts of the game and we saw Altrincham as a winnable tie.

"We've got to concentrate on the league a little bit now. Three points is massively important, especially to get one back over on them."

Reds go into tomorrow's game in 13th place, but have games in hand on the current top nine sides.

The management team will have to manage without long-term absentees Gari Rowntree and Anthony Wright and the suspended James Earl.

Scott Allison is also rated 50-50 as he continues his recovery from a thigh strain.

If Allison is ruled out, Kilifin or fellow new forward Nathan Waterston could be asked to lead the line.

The 23-year-old added: "We can expect much more of the same tomorrow. They're a decent side and they're good and strong at the back.

"We've got to work hard against them, we need to cut out mistakes and to try to score more than one this time.

"You always want to score as many goals as you can. Whether it's me, Scott or Nathan we'll do our best."

Kick off at Borough Park is at 3pm.

BLOB A quiz night will take place at the social club at Borough Park tonight.

It is being put on by the Workington Reds Development Fund with quiz organiser Jimmy Walsh.

Entry is £2 and the quiz starts at 7pm. All money raised will go towards the club.
