Workington Reds will be on top of their game as they aim to reach a second successive play-off final tonight declared jubilant boss Dave Hewson.

Reds face a long trip to play Stourbridge tonight in the semi-finals, ko 7.45pm, and Hewson admitted he was not too happy about the quick turnaround but that they would not let it get to them.

Workington finished the season off with a 0-0 draw against Sutton Coldfield on Saturday and claimed fourth place in the Evo Stik Northern Premier League.

But now all sights turn to Stourbridge and Reds go into the game with confidence and a full squad.

He said: "I think playing tonight is ridiculous, especially with the backlog that we've had and the decision to make us play an extra game in the last week of the season, then to make us go to the semi-finals of the play-offs on a Monday night after the week we've had.

"But that's the last I will say on it. We are not going to use it as an excuse, we're going to go and give it a right go tonight. If anyone can come and support the lads it is much appreciated.

"We know it's a tough ask but we're going to go full of confidence and give it a good go."

Conor Tinnion was brought off after half an hour of Saturday's game while Jake Simpson, Kyle May and Dan Wordsworth were all carrying slight knocks and took no part in the game.

But Hewson said everyone would be available for this encounter. The honours are even between the two sides this season with a victory apiece but Hewson said those games no longer matter.

"We're a different team now," he added. "I think we are a lot more organised and a lot more disciplined.

"We're playing full of confidence and we know that we can beat any team in this league on our day.

"We have to be at it and on top of our game but I know that every single one of the players will do everything they can to get a result."

The draw wasn't the way anyone wanted to finish the season but Hewson said he was delighted with another clean sheet and paid tribute to the players for another superb season.

"It was always going to be tough, they came with the aim of beating the other score, to sit in and see the game out and get a point.

"We huffed and puffed but didn't really get going but I'm not going to let this dampen our season and the way we've finished our season because every single one of my players have been incredible.

"They deserve all the praise and credit in the world for the effort they've put in recently and the effort they've put in all season.

"To get in the play-offs for a third year running is absolutely magnificent and we are very proud of every single player who has contributed to that this year.

"We need to celebrate the lads and what they've done and the fact that they've made the play-offs."
