Workington Reds midfielder Anthony Wright has joined Carlisle City on a dual registration in a bid to get some minutes under his belt.

Long-serving Wright only returned to the field this month after a six-month lay-off with a groin injury.

The 30-year-old had a double hernia operation in September and made a goalscoring return in the County Cup win over Frizington.

He was substituted at half-time, but hasn't featured for Reds since.

Carlisle City are currently 12th in North West Counties League Division One in the tenth tier of the league pyramid.

Wright is expected to go into the squad for City's match against Daisy Hill on Saturday.

He will also be able to play for Reds throughout his dual registration and could represent them against Ramsbottom in the League Cup on Tuesday.

Joint manager Lee Andrews said: "He's got a lack of match fitness and the last couple of reserve games have been called off, so it's about getting some minutes.

"He's been okay in training, but he needs game time. Getting game time puts him in the frame for us.

"We've got competition for places and he needs to be ready. There's no time limit on the registration."

Meanwhile, Reds are continuing their preparations for Saturday's away trip to Stourbridge.

The Borough Park outfit are enjoying a revival after winning their last five matches in all competitions without conceding.

Victory tomorrow could see them move into the play-off places.

Reds beat FA Cup heroes Spennymoor on Tuesday and 12th placed Stourbridge have one eye on their own FA Cup plum tie against Northampton in two weeks time.

The management trio have an almost-full squad to choose from with James Earl the only confirmed absentee through suspension.

Andrews added: "I think we know Stourbridge is a difficult place to go, but we've got results there.

"They will be a strong and physical team and we know it's going to be a tough game."

Kick off at the War Memorial Athletic Ground is at 3pm.
