A second heavy defeat at the hands of Stourbridge is what Workington Reds are determined to avoid this afternoon.

The Glassboys handed Reds their worst defeat of the season back in November when they halted their five-game winning run with a 5-0 lesson.

And Reds joint-manager Dave Hewson says they will be going all out to put that result right at Borough Park, kick-off 3pm.

"We know that they are a good side," said Hewson. "They are very strong and very physical in the way that they play.

"They are very direct and have some quality players and we know this only too well after being on the receiving end earlier in the season.

"They handed us our biggest defeat and we will be doing everything we can to make sure that is not repeated."

Hewson admitted they would be wary of the threat that their third-placed visitors pose but he also backed his team to come up with the goods.

He said: "We are coming into the game on the back of a huge result at Hednesford and a really positive away performance.

"We have to take the positives from that game into today's and I know we can."

Reds are without the injured Rob Wilson and Anthony Wright, while fellow midfielder James Earl also misses out through suspension.

Stourbridge boss Gary Hackett also has his injury problems with Stuart Pierpoint and Richard Sho-Silva both picking up knocks early on in their 0-0 draw at home to Mickleover Sports on Saturday.

The defensive duo have joined Chris Lait and centre-back Jack Duggan, on the treatment table.

Hackett said he has already made a couple of approaches to bring players into the club as cover, but will have to “wait and see which moves come off”.

This afternoon's match has extra special meaning for Reds with former skipper Tony Hopper appearing at Borough Park.

The ex-Reds midfielder and his family will be guests of honour after Hopper, 40, was diagnosed with bulbar-onset motor neurone disease.
