Workington Reds boss Derek Townsley and his troops are raring to bounce back from their early FA Cup exit.

Workington’s unbeaten run of six games in all competitions came to an end on Saturday when they lost 1-0 at home to Harrogate Town in the FA Cup second qualifying round.

Reds were denied the chance to bounce back from that defeat on Tuesday after their league match away at Marine was postponed because the Merseyside club were in action in an FA Cup replay.

But the West Cumbrians will be in league action tomorrow when they host Mickleover Sports at Borough Park (3pm ko).

Townsley said: “After the disappointment of having Tuesday night postponed, we wanted to get back out there and put one or two things right.

“The plus side is it gives one or two a chance to recover.

“On Saturday I don’t think we played particularly poorly. We could have played better.

“I felt we at least deserved a draw. There were a lot of plusses to take out of the game.”

Mickleover are ninth in the table on 17 points, two places and one point above Workington, although Reds have a game in hand.

Mickleover, who were promoted last season after winning the First Division South, beat Matlock 2-0 at home on Tuesday night.

Townsley added: “I know Buxton played them recently. I know the manager there and I will give him a call and see if there is anything he can tell me.

“Looking at the league table, they are up there competing. It will be a tough test.

“We should be confident. Our home record has been good. Let’s hope that continues.”

Trio Kyle May (head), Josh Calvert (hamstring) and Alex Mitchell (ankle) will be assessed before tomorrow’s match.
