Workington Reds’ spectacular end-of-season form has seen them named the Evo-Stik League Premier Division’s club of the month for April.

Reds, who clinched the award for the first time since returning to the league in 2014, won six and drew one of their final seven league matches to power into the play-offs, as well as reaching the Cumberland Cup final.

In the Cumberland Cup final, they beat Penrith in extra-time at Brunton Park, while they were knocked out of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League play-offs at the semi-final stage at Stourbridge.

Meanwhile, the club’s board of directors was due to meet the team’s management yesterday to begin planning for next season, while also continuing to discuss the future of Borough Park after Dale Brotherton’s proposal to buy the ground from current owner Allerdale council.
