Workington Reds stay in second place in the Evo Stik premier league after table topping Blyth Spartans beat Salford City last night.

Blyth's 2-1 victory over the third placed side means they are now five points clear of Reds in second.

And Salford are two points below Reds in third, although they do have a game in hand.

Ashton United could shake things up again tonight as they take on lowly Whitby Town.

Victory for Ashton could see them leapfrog Salford into third on goal difference.

Reds travel to Mickeover Sports on Saturday hoping to add to their winning tally while Blyth host Grantham Town, Salford welcome mid-table Frickley Athletic and Ashton prepare for the visit of Matlock Town.

Supporters will also be keeping a close eye on Darlington 1883 who have several games in hand on the leading group and are well positioned.

They head to Marine on Saturday and then all attention will turn to Tuesday when Reds and Blyth will go head to head at Borough Park.
