Workington Reds have all the motivation they need to put their recent home loss against Class of 92-owned Salford right tonight, according to boss Derek Townsley.

Reds succumbed to a 4-1 defeat to the Ammies at Borough Park just 10 days ago and Townsley believes the quick turnaround will keep his side's hurt that day fresh in their minds at Moor Lane this evening (7.45pm ko)

He said: "I know we were all certainly hurting after it, it wasn't a nice experience for us all so hopefully that's fresh in our minds.

"In terms of motivation I'm hoping they've got all they need from that defeat.

"We have to match them, certainly in terms of endeavour and all the rest of it.

"No doubt it will be one of the hardest away games this year, but they're all very tough in this league.

"We are aware of the quality that they have at their disposal."

A win over the Evo-Stik Premier Division title hopefuls, who sit third in the table ahead of tonight's crunch clash, would see Workington move into the final play-off place in fifth.

Meanwhile, Reds have been tested by another injury blow to their thin squad after striker Matty Tymon sustained an ankle injury in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Frickley which could rule him out for up to a month.

Joe McGee is also struggling with a knock and is due to be assessed ahead of tonight's game while Gareth Arnison, who made a scoring return at the weekend after an illness lay-off, is not fully fit but could feature.

Townsley added: "Our lads worked their socks off on Saturday so I think there's plenty to be confident about going into tonight's match, but we've lost Matty which is a bit of a blow for us.

"Unfortunately we're not blessed with a great deal of options, but we have one or two."
