Symington, Rob Wilson and goalkeeper Tom Fowler are all unavailable for Reds as Carlisle head to Borough Park for the pre-season friendly, ko 7.30pm.

And managers Dave Hewson and Lee Andrews are also waiting to run the rule over new boy Jamie Mellon and Anthony Wright, who are doubtful.

“Jamie is struggling with a foot injury and Anthony is also struggling after he picked up a knock against Annan on Saturday,” explained Hewson.

“We will assess their fitness but we won’t be risking anyone that isn’t fit.”

Lamin Cham is also on the sidelines, with the youngster set to miss the next couple of games after tearing his ankle ligaments.

Hewson admitted he was looking to see his regular first- teamers step up a gear against Carlisle, as he increased their game time.

“It will be a really tough game,” he added. “I think Carlisle will bring a strong first team squad so it will be a good test for our lads.

“It’s a good opportunity to get more minutes. They have had a couple of games prior to this and we are two weeks in to pre-season, so they will be ready to step it up.”

Hewson appealed to fans of both clubs to go along and create a bumper crowd for the clash.

“It is great that Carlisle are playing all the local teams. It gives fans an opportunity to see what is on offer around the county,” he added.

“Hopefully, some of the Carlisle fans will get a look at us, and maybe it will bring us more fans throughout the season.

“It is a great opportunity for a big crowd and it is so important to clubs financially as well, to get people down for these games.”
