Workington Reds made it two away victories in a row after a convincing success at Halesowen.

Reds did the double over their league rivals adding a 5-1 victory yesterday to the 3-1 win they claimed at Borough Park on the opening day of the season.

New loan signing Jack Egan led the way in the scoring stakes bagging a brace of goals in just his second game for Reds.

Other goals came from fellow Carlisle loan star Jordan Holt, Scott Allison and David Symington.

Halesowen had taken the lead just a few minutes into the game but it was to be the only time they beat Aaran Taylor in the Workington goal.

Then with 35 minutes gone, James Earl put through a lovely ball to allow Allison to slot it into the back of the net and put the game back on an equal footing.

And this was just the lift Reds needed as moments later it was 2-1 as Egan's header went in off the post to see the visitors lead 2-1 at half time.

Reds retained their momentum in the second half with Egan bagging his second with just three minutes of the half gone. He stabbed in a Conor Tinnion shot that was going wide to extend Workington's lead to 3-1.

This was quickly followed up by a superb volley off the boot of Symington and Reds were cruising at 4-1.

Reds continued to bombard their hosts' goalmouth and in a further boost for the club, skipper Gari Rowntree came on off the bench for a taste of the action.

It was in injury time that the fifth and final goal came for Reds. Earl chipped the ball for Holt to drive it into the net and leave Workington with a convincing 5-1 win.

Reds will now look to bring this form back to Borough Park, where Marine will be the visitors on Tuesday night, ko 7.45pm.
