Workington Reds director George Mackie has announced he will be taking a back seat at the club due to personal commitments.

Mackie indicated that he will be curtailing his work at Borough Park for the foreseeable future due to work commitments and an increasing demand on his time at home.

A club spokesman thanked Mackie for all his time and efforts and said that Reds have put plans in place to cover his absence.

A statement said: "His role of treasurer and general administrator in the Borough Park office is an important one so changes will be implemented to compensate for his absence.

"The treasurer’s duties will be overseen by Don Blackwell and John Mackay.

"George hopes to be able to attend games occasionally and return to the club on a more permanent basis when personal circumstances permit.

"In the meantime, our thanks go to George for all the hard work he does at the club and we hope to see him at a game soon."

Reds are back in action at Borough Park tomorrow when they begin a stretch of three home games.

They start with the visit of current Evo Stik Northern Premier League leaders Rushall Olympic this weekend, ko 3pm.

This will be followed up on Tuesday night with the Integro League Cup tie against Clitheroe before Mickleover Sports will be the visitors the following Saturday, in the league.

Rushall will be without their leading goalscorer Alex Reid for the clash with Workington, as he has just signed for League One outfit, Fleetwood Town, after impressing during a trial spell.

Reid, 21, arrived at Dales Lane in February 2015 and made an immediate impact, scoring 26 goals in his first full season for the club and has already picked up 14 this term.
