Workington co-manager Dave Hewson expressed his anger after an "offside goal" cost his side points at Shaw Lane last night.

It was the second away game in succession that Reds have felt cheated by wrong decisions.

In this case, Damian Reeves looked a good five yards offside when he was allowed to go on and fire past Aaran Taylor.

Hewson said: “I don’t like criticising officials but I just wish some days they would put their hands up and admit they’ve made a mistake.

“Everybody in the ground knew that he was well offside.

“I think that affected us and knocked us out of our stride. We struggled to recover from that.

“We made a very bright start and I have to hold my hands up and say, although it was against the run of play, their goal was a good one.

“But we came back well to level up before half-time.

“I thought the second half was more of a scrap that we got dragged into, and certainly the goal affected us.

“It’s difficult when you come away and lose out to a goal like that.”

It ended a run of two straight victories at Borough Park but Reds are back at home on Saturday against Matlock Town.

There was one main injury concern during the game as striker Jack Ryan limped off with a knee injury.

He had come into the side for Sam Joel but seemed to twist as he was challenging for a ball.

“He is going to look at things in a couple of days but it might be a problem for the weekend,” added Hewson.

“I thought he had started the game brightly and was bringing players into it very well, so it was a shame.”
