Workington Reds U18s made a scintillating start to their FA Youth Cup campaign by thumping Hebburn Town 13-0.

Three hat-tricks and two doubles helped the young Reds side cruise through the first qualifying round at Hebburn Town on Wednesday night.

Liam Studholme (3), Adam Meagan (3), Robbie Hebson (3), Bradley Dryden (2) and Liam Jolly (2) were all on target for manager Steven Rudd's side.

Rudd said: “The attitude, commitment and desire from the lads was quality. One of the goals we made over 20 passes. It was a great all-round performance.”

Reds U18s will now play Altrincham at Borough Park in the next round, with the tie due to be played on Wednesday, October 7.

Meanwhile, Workington Reds Ladies will be in action on Sunday when they host CMB Ladies in the league at Borough Park (2pm ko).
