Workington Reds v Farsley game is on after late deal

WORKINGTON Reds’ match with Farsley Celtic will go ahead with the Yorkshire club close to agreeing a deal to pay off their creditors.
Celtic are in financial meltdown and were forced to call off their midweek match with AFC Telford, leading to speculation they could be the next Conference club to fold.
The pay deal will see them pay back 100p in the pound but it is not known how much the club actually owes.
Celtic have been in administration since July but they are being backed by the Conference and a consortium is thought to be close to agreeing a deal to save the club.
Reds boss Darren Edmondson has spoken with Celtic manager Neil Parsley, who insisted the game at Farsley is on.
Edmondson said: “I spoke with Neil and he assured me that the game will go ahead.”
Reds will be at full strength with every player coming through Tuesday’s impressive 3-1 win over Blyth Spartans.
Jonny Wright’s partnership with Gareth Arnison will continue to fire goals for the Borough Park club.
The hit men have notched 29 goals between them this campaign with the goal ace Arnison one ahead of his fellow striker with 15.
With the front two doing so well and with more competition for places on the bench striker Dan Shannon could soon be sent out on loan.
The fleet-of-foot forward has failed to score this season although his game time has been limited due to injury.
Edmondson sent a fax to all UniBond teams alerting them to Shannon’s availability on a short-term basis.
He said: “It will be good for the lad to go out and get some much-needed game time. He wants to play but our strikers are in great form at the minute.
“It’s hard because I need all the players I can get with the hectic run in but Dan needs to play.”
And Reds have teamed up with local junior side Curwen Park Rangers to help boost young talent coming through the ranks.
The newly formed academy will allow the Borough Park club to get first choice on the talented youngsters coming through the Rangers youth sides.
Curwen Park run three junior sides in the West Cumbria Youth League running from U12s to U16s.
A development officer is likely to be appointed soon as Reds start to build up their youth set-up.
Paul McCracken, founding member of Curwen Park, said the link will give youngsters that show promise a pathway through to senior level football.
