Egremont Rangers and Wath Brow Hornets will play at home in the opening round of the 2017 Ladbrokes Challenge Cup.

The draw took place last night at The Deep in Hull with four West Cumbrian sides in the hat.

Egremont will take on the might of the Army while Wath Brow welcome North West Premier League champions Haydock in the first round, to be played over the weekend of January 28/29.

Kells and Distington are also in contention but they must travel to make it through to the next round.

Kells will tackle Yorkshire Men's Premier champions West Bowling while Cumbria Men's League champions Distington will go to National Conference League division one outfit Featherstone Lions.

Conducting the draw was 2016 winning coach with Hull FC, Lee Radford who was picking the home balls. Away teams were drawn by RFL President, Air Commodore Dean Andrew.
