Ellenborough survived a second half fightback from Hensingham to take the honours in the Cumbria Men's League at the weekend.

The Maryport-based outfit were 20-0 ahead at the break but then Hensingham struck back to make the game much more even.

But in the end Ellenborough had enough left in the tank to close the game out at 38-22.

It was a close town derby between Maryport and Glasson, with only six points separating the two sides at half time.

Maryport did just enough to edge past their rivals 28-18 at the final whistle with Andrew Pattinson to the fore.

Seaton could not raise a team for their trip to Barrow Island.

In the Iggesund Cumberland League, Aspatria just edged out Broughton Red Rose in a game of high emotions.

Broughton put on an outstanding display, playing in memory of club official Ian Jackson who died recently.

And it was Broughton who were ahead 18-14 at half time but Aspatria pulled away in the latter stages to clinch the game 36-24.

Lowca put in a commanding performance against Great Clifton Lions to finish 86-20 victors.

Keith Campbell was the man of the match as Lowca racked up the tries.
