England RL prospects Caine Barnes and Conor Fitzsimons can go all the way to the top of the sport according to their amateur club Seaton Rangers.

The duo's call-up to England's Academy squad last week has come as no surprise to the coaching staff, players and fans at the amateur club.

Seaton spokesman Gary McKeating says they stood out at an early age and are destined for great things.

"They stood out in a group of excellent players so it is no surprise to any of us what has happened in their career journey," said McKeating.

"They are both very dedicated, very professional and are great lads on and off the field, still very grounded."

Caine began life with Seaton at the tender age of eight while Conor joined at age 11 and they have come right through the ranks before leaving for Wigan and Castleford respectively.

"These lads have come through four or five seasons with Seaton, and it has helped to play in a settled team," added McKeating.

"A lot was expected of them and that has helped in their development over the years, on top of the raw talent they obviously have.

"They have always worked as part of a team even though they were talented individuals."

The duo were named in Andy Kelly's 37-strong England Academy squad ahead of their 2016 programme.

McKeating added that everybody connected with the club is proud of them and he believes there is more to come.

"If they continue as they are now then there is no problem with them being at the top of the professional game," he said.

"They both show the attributes that you would want in a player, dedication on and off the field and a great work ethic along with team spirit.

"As long as they continue to apply themselves as they did at Seaton they can go far."

Their Academy coach Andy Kelly said: “A large squad was needed this year with the amount of sessions we have arranged and an important trip to Australia to take on some of the best Under-18s in the world.

“The last Academy tour to Australia was four years ago, so it’s an exciting time to be involved.

"In the months leading up to July this group will be working hard and proving themselves to the coaching staff that they should be the ones out there representing their country.”

The side will also have a home game against France in May before heading off on a month-long tour of Australia in July.
