Former Workington Town boss Martin Oglanby has been named as head coach at Glasson Rangers after a two-year break from the game.

Oglanby was joint head coach at Town with Gary Charlton and stepped down after the 2013 season.

He is now making a return to Glasson after previously coaching at the Rangers over 10 years ago.

“It’s been over two years since I finished at Workington and I’ve had chance to recharge my batteries,” Oglanby said.

“I’m itching to get back into it again. I’ve missed the involvement with game.

“I’m feeling good in myself, it’s been a bit frustrating at times being away from the game but I’m looking forward to starting again.”

Glasson have finished in mid-table over the last two season in the Cumbria Men’s League and Oglanby hopes he can build on the work done by his predecessors.

“There’s a great crop of young players who have been well guided in the past and James Moore has done a cracking job with them this year,” Oglanby continued.

“I’ll be holding a couple of training sessions at the start of next month to get to know everyone before the hard work starts.

“I’ve had a good look at the club’s results over the last couple of years and they’ve run at lot of the top teams close.

“So hopefully I’ll be able to carry on that work and lift the bar with them.”

Glasson Rangers spokesman Chris Fisher added: “We’re excited to have Martin on board because he’s a proven coach and a Glasson lad through and through.

“He’s coached and played for us before so it feels like a home coming.

“We’d also like to say a big thank you to James for all his work this season.”

The club is hosting open training session on December 5 and 12 for current a prospective players.

The sessions will start at 12.30pm at the club’s Ewanrigg Road ground.
