Glasson Rangers won the all-Maryport battle in the BARLA Cumbria Cup opener on Saturday.
Glasson travelled to face Ellenborough Rangers and just clinched a tight game 18-10.
Ellenborough prop John Stoddart worked tirelessly throughout to earn himself the man of the match award, alongside Rhys Burr.
Glasson have now earned themselves a trip to Roose Pioneers in the second round.
Maryport could not raise a team for their cup tie with Hensingham so the Whitehaven side were awarded the tie and have a home game in round two against Cumbria Men's League champions Distington.
