Hensingham continue to set the pace at the top of the Cumbria Men’s League, notching a 30-10 win at Ellenborough.

The unbeaten Copeland side had opened up a comfortable half-time lead but after the break it was much tighter and they only won the second-half 6-4.

Jordan Ostle scored a first-half try for Ellenborough, converted by Michael Hill, but at 24-6 down the hosts were staring at a big defeat.

But they knuckled down and a second try from Andy Ostle, which went unconverted, was only matched by a converted try for Hensingham.

Hensingham did their best work in the opening 40 minutes when tries by Chis Smith, Jordan Thompson, Liam Campbell and Sam Rossi, all converted by Marc Bainbridge virtually guaranteed them the two points.

Smith scored his second try after the break and again Bainbridge converted as the Hensingham bandwagon rolled on to an eighth straight League win.

Champions Distington are their nearest rivals four points adrift from the same number of games.

It was all square at Glasson when the two sides took their half-time break. They were level on 6-6 before Distington pulled away in the second-half to win 48-18.

Scott George and Gavin Martin each helped themselves to a hat-trick of tries while James Motum and Liam McNicholas also crossed. George and Clayton Sutton each kicked four goals.

For Glasson there were tries from Lee Birks, John Dollochin and Josh Jones, all converted by Craig Foster.

In the other game Seaton continued their good run by beating Wath Brow 34-10 after they had established a healthy 22-6 lead at half-time.

The Seaton tries were scored by Lewis Mason (2), Steven Newall, Billy Southward, Stephen Dawes and Oscar Harris. Mark Walker kicked five goals.

Wath Brow’s tries were scored by Patrick Noutch and Jamie Sharp, one of which was converted by Sam Curwen.
