Ellenborough scrum-half Andy Ostle and Distington's Bryan Ritchie got off to dream starts on the BARLA GB tour of Jamaica.
The duo starred as the BARLA Cougars defeated Jamaica B 58-10 in the opening clash of the tour.
Ostle touched down for a try in the encounter and Ritchie definitely made his mark on the opposition.
His powerful performance earned him the man-of-the-match award in tough conditions.
Whitehaven-based manager Sean High was delighted with the result and also the performance of the West Cumbrians, with Hensingham's Jordan Thomson and Seaton's Liam Wood also playing.
He said: "Conditions were tough in the heat but the boys looked good. Although they were only 20-4 up at half-time the Jamaicans run the boys around the park in the humid heat.
"But Bryan is an athlete and his fitness levels were good and the Jamaicans struggled to pull him to ground. He was also strong in defence.
"Andy Ostle's try was a nice show and go and both Thomson and Wood put in good shifts in the forwards."
The next game is on Saturday against Jamaica's first team squad.
