Seaton Rangers U14s made sure of a top four play-off place after defeating Wath Brow Hornets by 40-6 last Thursday.

First-half tries from Ethan Mitchell, with two, Korban Iley and Billy Challenger plus two Levi Wallbanks conversions gave the Rangers a 20-6 half-time lead.

Seaton kept up the pressure on Wath Brow in the second period and ran up a further 20 unanswered points thanks to two touchdowns and two goals from Wallbanks, plus four pointers from Matty Brown and Taylor Moore.

On Sunday Cockermouth U14s eased into a top-four place after defeating nearest rivals Hensingham with a 44-18 winning margin.

Joe Beaty, Ben Irving and Jack Lewis picked up a brace of touchdowns apiece for the home side.

Ty Romvari-Ellise and Sam Taylor also crossed the Hensingham whitewash. Jamie Stockdale landed four conversions and there was also a goal apiece from Irving and Aaron Lawson.

In reply for Hensingham, Jack Kellet went over for two tries and Gary Hanlon also crossed for one. Jamie McAllister landed all three conversion attempts.

l Cumbria U17s opened their account in the BARLA Tri-County Championship at Stanningly Rangers where they took on Yorkshire U17s.

Unfortunately for Cumbria, Yorkshire showed too much strength, power and pace and ran away with the game in a 48-6 scoreline.

Yorkshire were 30-6 ahead by the break, with Cumbria’s only contribution being an Ellison Holgate try, converted by Owen Hoyles.

Cumbria did tighten their defence in the second period, restricting Yorkshire to only adding a further 18 points.

Cumbria’s next fixture is at home to Lancashire on October 16 where they have a huge task on their hands if they are to have any impact on this campaign.

The fixture against Lancashire will take place at Askam ARLFC and will kick off at 2pm.
