The top two teams in the Iggesund Cumberland ARL will contest the final of the top-four play-off on Friday.

Runners-up Hensingham beat Flimby 40-20 while league winners Ellenborough made the final without breaking sweat.

Opponents Aspatria were unable to raise a team for Saturday’s semi-final.

Friday's final will be played at the home of Cumbria Men’s League leaders Distington, kick-off 6.30pm.

In the semi-final at Hensigham, the home side’s victory was built on their first-half performance as they built up a 20-4 lead by the break.

The second half was much tighter as Hensingham shaded it 20-16.

The tie had started well enough for Flimby as they scored the first try on 12 minutes through Brett Smith.

But the second quarter of the game belonged to the Copeland side after Jordan Thompson levelled the scores with an unconverted try on 22 minutes.

Craig Branthwaite put them ahead with a second unconverted try on the half-hour and then there were two tries in four minutes from Robbie Henderson and Sean Dixon, with conversions by Jay Rossi and Josh Rogerson.

Flimby needed a quick score to get back into it and they got it two minutes after the restart when David Torley went in for a try, which Darren Pape converted.

But Hensingham responded and two tries inside two minutes soon afterwards from Richard Morton and Rossi, both converted by Rossi, gave them a telling lead.

On 55 minutes Flimby scored again through Torley but any thoughts of a comeback were dashed a minute later when Ben Rogerson went over for the hosts.

Torley was able to complete his hat-trick on 72 minutes, and Pape converted, but Hensingham had the final word with a try by Chris Smith four minutes from time.

In the Cumbria Men’s League top four play-off semi-final, the all-South Cumbrian clash saw Walney Central beat Barrow Island 26-12.

It means they will take on Distington in the final but where they will meet depends on the outcome of tomorrow's final league fixture between Seaton and Distington at Workington Town’s Zebra Claims Stadium (kick-off 7.30pm).

If Distington win they will be Men’s League champion and will host the top-four final at Whitehaven’s Recreation Ground on Saturday.

But if Seaton win then Walney Central will host the final against Distington at Craven Park, Barrow.
