St Benedict's will play host to the Six Nations Trophy tomorrow before the North One East game with Warrington tomorrow.

The silverware, won by England after last season’s heroics, will be in the Saints’ clubhouse for two hours up to kick-off at 3pm.

Later in the day, the Trophy will be on show in the north of the county at the Warwick Road home of Carlisle.

St Benedict’s were Team of the Year last season with a league and cup double, as well as an appearance in a final at Twickenham.

One of the coaching team, Ian McQuire, said: “It’s great for the club to have the Six Nations Trophy at the club ahead of what will be a tough game.

“We suffered our first defeat last week so we will be trying to bounce back against a Warrington team who will be capable opponents.

“Our problem is the number of injuries we have suffered already. Of last season’s first team eight players are currently out of action, two of them injured in last week’s 16-8 defeat at Rochdale.

“Ryan Fisher did his cruciate ligament and Gavin Maudling suffered two broken ribs.

“Even so it was a game we should have won, and won well. We just couldn’t find our way at times and missed a lot of opportunities.

“None of the injuries will have cleared up in time for Saturday but the lads who have come in from the second team have taken their chances and done well for us.”

The Six Nations Trophy will be at the Benny’s clubhouse from 1pm until kick-off when members and supporters will be able to have their photo taken with the trophy.

Aspatria, like Benny’s have won two and lost one, but along with bottom club Workington are the only two teams in the North Lancs Cumbria League without a bonus point.

However, not many teams will come away from De La Salle with winning points and that’s exactly what they achieved on Saturday. The 19-12 win was hard graft but they got there in the end.

They are on the road again tomorrow when they travel to Littleborough, who have only won once so far in their second game, 32-10 at home to Upper Eden.

Even so they are level on points with Aspatria (8) having gained half of them from bonus points.

For Workington’s it’s already looking like a long hard season. Bottom of the League, with minus five points, they were hammered 94-0 at Bolton last week.

The Zebras are already minus 176 on their points differential and badly need a game when they can get some confidence going. They are at home tomorrow but it won’t be easy against De La Salle, who suffered their first defeat last week going down 19-12 at home to Aspatria.

Silloth are still looking for their first win but they weren’t far off it at home to Trafford with just seven points between them in a high-scoring game.

They were leading right up to the last 10 minutes but eventually went under 27-34.

They will be the fourth Cumbrian team to try and lower the colours of Fleetwood tomorrow when the 100 per centopposition visit the Jim Brough Rugby Park.

In the Cumbia League the fixtures are: Carlisle Crusaders v Egremont; Moresby v Millom; St. Benedict’s Ravens v Cockermouth; Whitehaven v Keswick and Windermere v Furness.
