Kris Coward has returned to the Workington Town ranks ahead of Sunday's Championship trip to Oldham.

Coward takes the squad back up to 21 for coach Phil Veivers to select his side for the final league match before the start of the Super Eights.

The prop has been struggling with a knee injury but is back to boost the pack ahead of the crucial run-in to the end of the season.

"Kris gives us another body to choose from and that takes us up to 21 now," said Veivers.

"The good news is that we didn't pick any other injuries up at the weekend."

Veivers will look to use a similar side to the one that beat Whitehaven in the dying seconds of the derby clash.

He added: "The lads hung in there for each other and played for each other which was great.

"Our target was always to win three out of the last four games and at this moment we have two out of three.

"We now need to prepare for Oldham and go out there with the same attitude as we have in the last couple of games.

"We just need to play with the same kind of passion and commitment and for each other."

Veivers admitted he was delighted for the fans on Sunday after the derby win.

"It was great to see such a good crowd, if we could get that for every home game it would be amazing," said Veivers.

"Then to see the fans faces after the game was magical. It is not just the player, staff and administrators at the club that are going through this rough time, it is the fans as well.

"So it was great that we could bring some joy with the win."

Sunday's opponents Oldham have just signed North Wales Crusaders winger Scott Turner and extended Kieran Gill's loan agreement to the end of the season.

And that will be just the tonic for the Roughyeds who are also battling to stave off relegation.

Turner is currently recovering from a fractured eye socket and will miss Sunday's match but he expects to be ready to go in round one of the Championship Shield on August 7.

And Veivers knows that Oldham will be no pushovers, especially on their home turf, where they have rattled several of the top names.

"They have got a young team that work hard for each other," he added.

"At the end of the day they beat Hull KR at Hull KR which is no mean feat so they have something about them."
