Whitehaven are a tasty 14/1 to win the League One title in the 15-match regulation season.

Red-hot favourites Toronto Wolfpack are priced at 1/8 and they will provide the opposition in Whitehaven’s first home game of the season.

Workington Town, who came down with Haven from the Championship last season, are a 25/1 shot to finish top of the pile.

It’s their Cumbrian neighbours Barrow who are being tipped-up as 10/1 second favourites to get closest to the Canadian newcomers.

Barrow just missed out to Toulouse in the play-off final last season and respected coach Paul Crarey is looking for his side to step-up on that effort.

Another long established club, Doncaster are third favourites (12/1) ahead of Keighley who share fourth spot with Whitehaven (14/1).

There might be an early guide to their chances as the two sides kick-off a series of warm-up matches at Lawkholme Lane on January 15.

Whitehaven start the season at South Wales, who are one of five teams priced at 100/1 outsiders while Town open at home to Newcastle Thunder who are 40/1 shots.

Former Whitehaven coach James Coyle is in charge at Hunslet now and he will be expecting them to fare better than the bookies predict as a 33/1 shot.

Toronto Wolfpack are not taking part in the League Cup competition and Barrow have been named 3/1 favourites to lift the trophy for the first time.

Doncaster (9/2), holders Keighley (5/1) and Whitehaven (6/1) follow them in the betting with Workington Town at 25/1. Haven host Town in the first round on February 19.

The outsiders for the League One Cup are Oxford, Hemel and South Wales, all priced at 50/1.
