Workington Town half-back Jamie Doran says they will be playing for pride against Bradford on Sunday.

Despite the heartbreak of relegation, Doran says the players know they have to pick themselves up for the last two games of the Championship season.

And although that won't be easy, he says the players are determined to show some spirit.

"All the lads are gutted that we are getting relegated but we know we have to finish the season off," he said.

"And we want to finish the way we want to start next season.

"We are obviously disappointed and the fans are as well but next year has to be a fresh start for us.

"We are not going to feel sorry for ourselves. Getting a win over Bradford would be excellent, then we can move on from there."

And he said that coach Phil Veivers was keen to emphasise that the last two games of the season were still important.

He added: "Phil gave us the day off on Tuesday and told us to come back on Thursday ready to go.

"And he said we are going to play as if we still have something to fight for and that's what we want to do."

Doran, who looks likely to have to go under the knife for a knee clearout in the close season, says they are not a bad side but have been unlucky this term.

"We are not a poor team we have just had a lot of bad luck and a lot of the lads are playing with injuries," he added.

"The lads are realistic we know the results are down to us there is no-one else.

"So to finish off with a win against Bradford would be awesome and a great boost for us."
