Talented pivot Jamie Doran has committed himself to the Workington Town cause.

Doran, who can play at half-back or hooker, was one of Town’s most influential players on the field in 2017 and the club were delighted to have secured his services once again.

He was a key target for the club as they look to move forward in the 2018 League 1 season.

Town chairman, Garry Mounsey said: “Jamie showed what an intelligent and creative rugby player he is last season and gave us lots of options in attack.

“He was totally influential across the pitch and his fantastic season was reflected in the number of awards he won at our presentation evening.

“The board is delighted that we have secured his signature for 2018 and we can continue to build a team around his talent.”

Doran's form on the field was recognised at the club’s annual presentation evening recently when he picked up four trophies.

He clinched the Fred Todhunter Memorial Trophy for Travellers Rest Supporters’ Club player of the year and also won the try of the year. And he also picked up the 2017 player of the year and one of the top accolades, the players’ player of the year.

Doran said he was delighted to stay at Derwent Park and that he liked the look of the squad that was beginning to form.

“I’m really happy to have re-signed for next season,” he said.

“I really enjoyed my rugby this year and thought that we played some attractive, attacking rugby.

“The lads we’ve signed so far show that we’re looking to build a competitive side and one that’s looking for a successful 2018.”

Doran is also excited to work with the club’s new head coach Leon Pryce, who was appointed at the weekend.

“I’m really looking forward to helping Leon and the club to progress,” he added.
