Some familiar faces are expected to boost Workington Town for Sunday's trip to York City Knights, ko 3pm.

Half-back Carl Forber, centre Jason Mossop and and loose-forward Perry Singleton are all named in Workington's 19-man squad for the Super 8s clash at Bootham Crescent.

And they will be welcome additions to Dave Clark's side that will be out to put last Sunday's heavy defeat at the hands of Toronto behind them.

"They are all back in the squad and this is a huge bonus for us," said Town director of rugby Les Ashe.

"Carl is our captain and Jason our club captain so they both have a lot of influence on and off the pitch.

"They also have a host of experience that is crucial out on the field so we are delighted that they are returning."

Mossop will make his 250th career appearance when he steps onto the pitch but forward Alex Szostak will have to wait a bit longer for his 200th milestone as he is unavailable.

Ashe also had praise for Singleton, who has put in a host of strong performances since joining in the close season from Barrow Island.

The former BARLA Young Lion is raring to get back into action against York and Ashe believes he has a lot to offer.

"Perry has had a brilliant first year as a professional," said Ashe. "He has been outstanding for the club each time he steps on the pitch.

"He is part of what we are trying to build here at Workington Town, a team that is based around the top amateur talent in the county.

"Perry has already proved what he can do at this level and he has fitted in really well so it is good to have him back."

York are coming into the game on the back of a loss at the hands of Keighley, after causing an upset in the first Super 8s game, beating leaders Toronto Wolfpack.

Ashe added: "It just shows how difficult the 8s competition is. After a world class result against Toronto, York came unstuck in a game they probably viewed as winnable against Keighley.

"But fair play to Keighley, who had turned it around and showed how competitive these last few games are going to be."
