Workington Town vice chairman Mark Fryer is urging fans to stay positive despite their current league position.

Fryer is appealing to supporters to get behind his team as they try to claw their way back up the table and avoid relegation.

He declared that the coach and players are well aware of what is expected of them as they head towards the Super Eights.

Fryer admitted this season has been difficult for everyone involved with the club but said that the focus had to remain positive if they were to get out of the mire.

"We know that it is tough right now but it is all about remaining positive," he said.

"I have sat down with the coach and he is well aware of what is required and we haven't moved off our goal of remaining in the Championship.

"As a club it is now about how we deal with the pressure.

"It has been difficult and we are well aware that we are sitting on the rugby league margins.

"But one thing is very clear and that is this club will not stay up without the support of its fans."

Town begin their assault anew on Sunday, when Bradford Bulls head to the Zebra Claims Stadium, ko 3pm.

And Fryer is under no illusions that this is a must-win game for his side.

He added: "We have to start with Bradford on Sunday. It is not enough any more for us to just target games against the teams around us in the table."
