Gloucestershire All Golds’ recent demolition of Keighley has made everyone sit up and take note, says Workington Town director of rugby Les Ashe.

The All Golds, who land at Derwent Park for a League One fixture on Sunday, recorded a 46-22 win over the Cougars in the second fixture of the season.

And Ashe says it’s a warning shot and proves that they will be no pushover this season.

“Was I surprised at the result? No,” said Ashe. “It just shows how these development clubs are gaining momentum.

“Was I shocked at the margin of the scoreline? A little.

“But it has put us on notice that they are not going to be an easy team to beat.

“They gave Doncaster a good hour at the weekend as well, and Doncaster will be up there at the end of the year.”

Town will meet the All Golds twice within a week as, after their league encounter, the Gloucestershire side will return the following Saturday in the iPro Sports League Cup.

And Ashe says Town will be doing their homework on the visitors.

“They have fired a warning shot and, on the back of us having a few injuries, we will be keeping a close eye on them,” added Ashe.

Town will definitely be without long-term absentee full-back Tee Ritson and Phil Joseph, who both have knee injuries.

And Wigan loan star Jack Higginson also looks unlikely to feature due to a hip injury.

All Golds boss Lee Greenwood said he was frustrated following the loss to Challenge Cup loss to Doncaster, saying they had an "off day".

But he is determined to get his side back on track and pick up vital league points at Derwent Park.
