Strong-running Aussie forward Oliver Gordon is out of the reckoning for Workington Town's trip to Halifax on Sunday.

Gordon has strained his lower abdomen and will be ruled out of boss Phil Veivers' plans, as has Kris Coward.

Callum Phillips and Chris Murphy were also 50/50 after taking knocks in the Bradford game.

But Town are set to be boosted by the return of Jarrad Stack and possibly Sam Forrester and Liam McAvoy.

"Stack will be back for Halifax and Sam Forrester is also likely to return, with the possibility that Liam McAvoy might also feature," said Veivers.

"There is still a question mark over Karl Olstrom and Jarrod Sammut will hopefully be right for the Sheffield game.

"Callum and Chris were due to see the neurologist yesterday to get checked over after head knocks in the last game so we will have to wait and see on them.

"But Kris Coward won't play as he pulled his hamstring in the warm-up last week so probably won't be back until either the Sheffield or Batley games."

Veivers said despite the Championship defeat at the hands of Bradford last week, there were plenty of positives to come out of the game.

"I know the score blew out to 52-16 but they scored three late tries to turn the game," he said.

"To our credit we have five opportunities and we took three of them so now it is about concentration from each and every player.

"We are not consistent enough defensively to keep it up for long periods."

Halifax may have one eye on their big sixth round Challenge Cup clash the following weekend with Widnes but Veivers says they cannot count on that.

He said it was up to the players to be ready to make their mark on Sunday.

"I hope that everyone is getting up for the game we are playing," he said.

"Rugby league players are proud people and they don't want to embarass themselves with a poor performance."
