Wily half-back Jamie Doran has pledged his support to Workington Town's new campaign by re-signing with the club.

Doran put pen to paper on a new deal this week as Town continue to build a squad ready to compete in League One.

The former Wigan Under-19 star says he is looking forward to working under the club's new coach Dave Clark.

And he is keen to play a big part in the rebuilding process that is ongoing at the club following their relegation.

Doran said: "I’m pleased to have re-signed for next season and I’m really looking forward to working with the new coach Dave Clark.

"I’ve enjoyed my time at Workington even though last season was ultimately disappointing.

"The club is rebuilding on and off the field and I wanted to be play a major part in that."

Town were delighted that they had secured the scrum-half who can also play at hooker.

Doran came to the fore during the latter part of last season, scoring several tries and he was also instrumental in creating more.

Director John Walker said: "We’re really pleased that Jamie has decided to re-sign.

"He’s a talented player with a very good rugby brain and the ability to move the team around the park.

"Jamie can play in a few positions and he is an excellent young player who we believe will develop further under Dave Clark.

"We look forward to seeing him on the pitch in 2017."

Whitehaven-born Doran, who played his amateur rugby with Kells, originally signed with Town in 2015 after parting company with Wigan.

He had spent time on loan at the Zebra Claims Stadium before making the move permanent.

He was a member of Wigan's U19 Grand Final winning side and also made a couple of first team appearances.
