Workington Town boss Phil Veivers is finding it tough to add to his injury depleted squad ahead of Sunday's home clash with Featherstone.

Veivers has been looking to bring in a couple of loan players from Super League to cover the injury crisis at the Zebra Claims Stadium.

But, with several of the top flight clubs picking up their own problems, he has found it tough going.

"Over Easter there were 40-odd injuries in Super League," explained Veivers.

"I have spoken to St Helens and Warrington but as they have picked up injuries of their own, they are not willing to release anyone.

"I am still trying other clubs to see if we can bring anybody in to help us out."

Veivers was further hampered on Sunday when Jarrad Stack and Liam McAvoy both picked up injuries that could see them miss the visit of Featherstone on Sunday.

Influential forward Stack suffered a concussion and fellow packman McAvoy picked up a shoulder injury as Town went down narrowly at the hands of Swinton Lions 26-22.

"We just seem to get a couple back and then we lose two more," said Veivers.

"We never seem to be at full strength. Jarrad will have to go through the concussion protocol before Sunday.

"There is an outside chance that he will be alright but we will have to follow the rules."

Stack was just hitting form after injury ruled him out of Town's opening Championship games and Veivers admitted that losing him again would be a blow.

"He plays an important part in the side so we want him out there," he added.

"But if he is not right then it will offer an opportunity for someone else to step up."

Brett Carter and Callum Phillips could return on Sunday while Alex Szostak and Latu Fifita are closing in on returns, with Sam Forrester a couple of weeks away.

But Karl Olstrom will be a further four to five weeks, after he damaged his ankle ligaments.
