Playmaker Jarrod Sammut says he is yet to find his best form this season - but warned opponents he is on the right track.

The Workington Town star admitted he hasn't been at the top of his game so far this term.

But he says he is now back to fitness following a couple of niggling injuries and with the team beginning to perform, it would not be long before he was firing on all cylinders.

"I have been a bit shy this season," said Sammut. "I have been a bit unfortunate with a few injuries but in this game that is the way things happen.

"I haven't been overly happy with my own performance but I think I'm slowly starting to get back.

"I'm not where I want to be yet or where I know I can be.

"But, with more game time on the field and the boys around me starting to play some great football, I am starting to find my best form and hopefully it won't be too far away before I am back to my best."

Sammut is keen to play his part in this Saturday's big derby clash with Haven at the Blackpool Summer Bash.

And there is the added spice this year with both teams fighting to get out of the Championship relegation zone.

"It adds a lot more pride and meaning to the game," said Sammut, who will make his first appearance at the Summer Bash if he is named in the Town line-up.

"At the end of the day nothing changes, it is still two points up for grabs. But with the way the league has panned out, with both of us at the bottom, it is a really big match.

"Whenever we are coming up for a local derby, we don't need to do much motivation.

"With the form we've had over the last few weeks, even though a couple of results haven't gone our way, everything is going in the right direction.

"It is all building up nicely for this weekend's local derby."
