Workington Town centre Declan Hulme says the pressure is on his side to bounce back in the next three high-stakes games after Saturday's derby loss against Whitehaven.

Hulme scored a second half try as Town rallied to try to salvage a result from the clash but was unhappy with his performance and refused to take credit in light of the defeat.

"Obviously with it being a derby game it was really disappointing because we said it was a must win game in terms of where we are in the table," he said.

"Personally I think I had a bit of an off game and the rub of the green didn't really come my way, plus we lost track of some of the things we've been practicing in training.

"We came out second half and gave it a real good dig and had them on the ropes a couple of times but unfortunately it was a bit too late.

"At the end of the day we lost the game and it was so disappointing it overshadowed anyone's performances, I don't think you can highlight individuals."

Town remain rock bottom of the Championship and Hulme said the aim is to put right the weekend's result against London Broncos, Bradford Bulls and Leigh Centurions in the next three weeks.

He said: "There was a good team spirit going into the game and things didn't go our way but we move on now for the next three games.

"We've got important, tough fixtures and we know we've got to really dig in to get something out of them.

"There was pressure on the games already but now it's how we respond to Saturday, we've got to get back to what we were doing.

"It's a case of regrouping, we've got to stay nice and tight as a team because there's nobody else who can rectify it on the pitch."
