Workington Town duo Carl Forber and Jack Murphy will be at the club in 2016 after committing to new deals which will keep them at Zebra Claims Stadium.

Half-back Forber has signed a two-year contract extension and full-back Murphy, who joined the club at the start of the year from Wigan Warriors, has penned a new 12-month deal.

Forber, who has been at the club since 2012, has made 29 appearances so far this season, scoring six tries and kicking 57 goals and Murphy has scored six tries in 29 games for the club in 2015.

Town vice-chairman Mark Fryer said: “I’m really pleased that two more players have committed their futures to the club.

“When Jack first come to us on dual-registration last year he rose to the challenge and has been Mr Consistent ever since.

“He gets on with his job out on the field and he scored a fantastic try at the weekend against Whitehaven, showing us what he does best.

“Carl does all his talking out on the pitch and he has put in some fantastic performances for our club this year.

“The goal-line conversion he a Dewsbury earlier this year was something special.

“We were 20-18 down and the hooter had gone and he was under a lot of pressure but he slotted it over like he always does.

“We’re pleased that other players have committed their futures to us and we are looking at bringing others in and further developing the squad for next year.”
