Winger Chris Murphy says Workington Town can compete with the top teams in the league if they work together and play with confidence.

Murphy says their last home performance against Leigh was an indicator of how Town can play.

And he hopes they can replicate that form when Featherstone head to the Zebra Claims Stadium on Sunday, ko 3pm.

"We have had a lot of adversity, I have never known an injury hit like it," admitted Murphy.

"As Phil Veivers has said we seem to get a couple back and then lose two more to injury. We take one step forward and then two back sometimes with injury.

"It is just about trying to stick together at the moment and although we have had some bad results we need to take the positives out of the games."

Despite only having one Championship win under their belts, Murphy insists nobody at the club is panicking over their current league position.

He added: "It is a long season and we are not panicking with regards to our position. I have every faith that we can progress forward and pick up wins.

"If we can produce another performance like the one against Leigh, but this time with 17/18 fit bodies, that would be great."

And he praised his forwards, who had to play for the majority of the game, with only one sub available to them.

"That game wasn't so bad for us outside backs but for the lads in the middle, they had to put in a massive effort," said Murphy.

"I think they absolutely dominated Leigh in that game and it shows when we do play with confidence we can match some of the full time teams and best players in the league.

"We need to take those positives and put it all together and we will be looking to have another massive performance against Featherstone.

"When times are tough it is all about every man doing his best for the one at the side of him."
