Workington Town's stars must pull together despite some recent harsh lessons says coach Phil Veivers.

His side have struggled to find consistent form in the Championship this year amid an injury crisis at the club.

But now as players are returning to the squad, he says his players must pull together as a team and find that self belief that will get them back on track.

He said: "There are some harsh lessons to learn and they need to pull together.

"They have to stay tight together and work hard and they will come out the other end.

"We will be in this week and try and rectify our defensive shortfalls at this moment in time.

"With the ball in hand we can create opportunities but we're not stopping teams scoring points and that's a major issue. We will work hard on this over the next two weeks."

The injury problems at the Zebra Claims Stadium have been well documented and Veivers has also struggled to bring in any players on loan.

But he says the majority of his stars are now returning to the squad and they have to dig deep for the rest of the season and work hard on their defence.

"Injuries were a contributing factor at the beginning of the year but there is also a belief issue," admitted Veivers.

"The structures and systems are in place and they know that they work but in the previous two years we were stronger defensively.

"We were holding sides out for longer periods of time and restricting how many points they scored."

He added: "It just seems the belief that they've got inside them at the moment is a little bit flat and they need to find that.

"We need to get some motivation from somewhere, which I need to input into them, to move further ahead."

Town have no game this weekend, with a trip to Bradford Bulls the next match a week on Sunday.
