Workington Town have announced that winger Elliott Miller has left the club following the expiry of his contract.

Miller signed a year’s contract extension at the end of last season but was unable to reach an agreement with Town for the 2016 season.

In a statement, the club said: “We can confirm that following the expiry of his contract with the club, Elliott Miller has departed Workington Town after five seasons.

“Elliott joined the club from Millom ARL after a brief spell with Hull FC and has been a regular try scorer during his time with the club.

“Everyone connected with Workington Town wishes to thank Elliott for his efforts in the Blue and White and wish him good luck for the future.”

Miller missed the start of this season after recovering from a back injury he picked up in the first game of the 2014 campaign which ruled him out of the rest of the year.

But he went on to score 12 tries in 18 appearances for Town as they finished fourth in the Championship Shield table.

It is understood that Miller is close to completing a deal which will see him move to Town’s West Cumbrian rivals Whitehaven.
